Poker is a card game for two or more players, played with chips that represent money. It has many variants, but all involve betting and the showing of cards at the end of a hand. There is a large element of luck, but skilled players can minimize its impact by using their knowledge of probability and reading their opponents\u2019 tells.<\/p>\n
A player places a bet by placing chips in the pot, or the aggregate pool of bets made by all players during one deal. Then each player in turn must call that bet, raise it (add more chips to the pot), or drop their cards and leave the table (fold). The best five-card hand wins the pot.<\/p>\n
During each betting interval, players can discard up to three cards and draw replacements from the top of the deck. This is known as the flop. A player can also make a pair, or three matching cards of the same rank. Four of a kind is made up of three matching cards of one rank and two matching cards of another rank, while a flush is five cards of consecutive rank but different suits.<\/p>\n
