Poker is a card game where players bet against each other with cards they hold. It is generally played from a standard 52-card deck. Depending on the game, one or more players must place an initial amount into the pot (called antes) before betting begins. Most games use a standard ranking of cards: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 7, 6, 5, 4 and 3. In addition to the standard ranks, some cards are wild (such as one-eyed jacks or dukes). When a hand has multiple cards of the same rank, the higher card wins. Four of a kind beats three of a kind and two pairs. Ties are broken using the high card rule (anything that doesn\u2019t qualify as a pair, three of a kind, or a flush).<\/p>\n
To play poker you will need to understand basic game terms such as check, call and fold. You will also need to be able to read tells, which are unconscious habits a player exhibits during a game that reveal information about their hand.
