Defining Slots in Architect

A slot is a small opening or groove in something. It can be used for placing coins into a machine or dialing a telephone number. It’s also a way to manage air traffic at busy airports, as it prevents repeated delays caused by multiple flights.

Defining slots

A Slot is an HTML element part of the Web Components technology suite. It allows for distinct DOM trees and includes global attributes.

The slot type is a data type that shares the structure, syntax, keywords, choosers and properties of the content types it represents. It can be used to model the way content is scheduled, published and consumed on your website or within an e-commerce system.

Repositories

Slot items are created from slot types and stored in separate repositories to your content. These repositories are marked as slot repositories so that they can be selected and added to editions in the Architect scheduler.

Repository names and descriptions are controlled by you. To edit a repository name, click on the Repository name or description in the Slot menu and make any changes you need.

Using synonyms

Architect understands that you may have multiple words or phrases that describe the same slot, such as “Big Apple” and “New York City.” To edit a synonym, hover over the synonym and click on the X to delete it. Alternatively, you can add a new synonym. You can use the Slot menu to modify the synonym’s title, description and location.
